About How Long To Cook

If you're visiting this website, you're most likely not competing on Top Chef, The Next Food Network Star, or whatever cooking show is your favorite. If you're like the rest of us, you probably need a few tips to help you figure out how easy it is to cook some of your favorite foods. This website is not a site for recipes; so if that's what you're looking for, you may want to visit AllRecipes.com or Foodnetwork.com. However, we will feature a full recipe once a month as an added feature, as well as several tips that should help you in the kitchen. This website is for people who have some knowledge of cooking, but just need that extra little help to get their food cooked perfectly.

I have learned over my "25+years" that cooking can be a relaxing and fun thing to do, whether it's cooking for yourself, a group of people, or maybe that special someone you're trying to impress (Hi sweetie!). However, every time I cook, I always seem to find myself asking the same question: “How long does it take to cook (insert food item here)?” So, over the years, I've spent quite a bit of time on the "Big G" (Google) looking for cook times, and I always end up in the same situation...“Well, that cook time works for THAT food, but will it work for THIS food that I'm trying to cook now?” And, quite often, the answer ends up being "No!," and I end up having to call my mother to find out how long to cook the food I've already got in the oven or on the stove top.

So, what I have created here at howlongtocook.com is a website that will always have an answer to the question, “How long does it take to cook (insert food item here)?” And if you're trying to cook something that isn't listed here, I want you to contact me so I can get you the info and post it for everybody. We'll be adding new cook times every day, so keep checking back. And if you have cook times that you want to be added to the website, please send them to me using the "SUBMIT A FOOD" link. Every little bit helps...and my girlfriend and I only have so many family members we can ask!
