1. How Long to Cook Mashed Potatoes

   This cook time is for 1.5 lbs of russet potatoes, peeled and cubed.

   Boil potatoes in a large pot of salted boiling water until tender when pierced with a fork (approximately 10-12 minutes). Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot for 30 seconds over medium heat to dry the potatoes. The potatoes are now ready to be mashed by hand or pushed through a ricer.
